Evidently these Ephesians heeded Paul’s advice for the Lord commended them in Revelation 2:2 (italics mine): I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot endure evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false. The watchmen on the wall also looked for enemies. When they saw potential danger approaching, they sounded an alarm, either by a shout or with a trumpet blast. Soldiers could then prepare themselves
